Here are the skin care trends that doctors say could be a complete game changer.
Retinal instead of retinol
Is your retinol serum failing to do its job?
Another plus point of retinal, or retinaldehyde as it’s also known, is that it works faster than retinol. Products with this ingredient help fight the signs of aging and makes ageing skin tighter and firmer.
Cosmetics with growth factors
According to our experts, growth factors are the substances that are really worth the hype that will be raised around them in 2025. So look for products that contain a variety of “GFs” – EGF, FGF, TGF, IGF, PDGF and VEGF – to improve skin hydration, stimulate cell regeneration and collagen production, smooth wrinkles and fight pigmentation.
Sunscreen all year round
Not wearing SPF cream in the winter? That’s a big mistake, because 80% of UV rays can penetrate clouds, and window panes are no barrier to UVA rays, which are responsible for premature aging and skin cancer. We recommend applying sunscreen daily, even if it’s cloudy outside, and choosing products with an SPF of 30 to 50.
Skimalism
Skimalism is the top skincare trend in 2025. “Using lots of different products can weaken the skin barrier and lead to new problems instead of addressing existing ones,” says a dermatologist. We advise focusing on a minimum of products and ingredients like retinol, hyaluronic acid, glycerin, ceramides and peptides.
Stick to the basics – cleanser, serum, moisturizer, SPF. If you want to use a few additional products – great, why not? But know that it’s not necessary for good skin.
LED masks
LED masks are advertised as a simple (albeit expensive) solution for firmer, smoother skin, and they really can be a great tool in the fight against acne or signs of aging.
